International Learning Community
We want the College to be an international learning community. This means you study and live together with students from all over the world. It’s beneficial on many levels: you learn how to deal with different cultures and you have to speak English at all times. This is not only confined to the classroom. With a study load of 48 hours per week, living together makes it easier to get together for group work or ask flatmates something about homework. To see your flatmates work hard, means you’re motivated to excel yourself.
Student residence ‘De Nieuwe Haven’
All our students are required to live at student residence ‘De Nieuwe Haven’ for the first two years of the programme. It is a ten-storey building located in the city centre of Zwolle. All floors have 14 single and 1 double room. They all have a private bathroom, which is quite unique for Dutch student housing! There is a small kitchenette in every room, though the cooking takes place in the communal kitchen and common room of that floor. Most of our students form groups and share the burden of cooking and doing the dishes.
Open doors
The students at the residence form a big community. For some privacy, they simply close the door of their own room. They come together regularly, for home work, for eating, playing sports or just to watch tv.
Even though some students have travelled across the world to get here, they find it’s easy to get to know people and make friends, because they all live together.
Free internet
Whenever we ask students what they like most about living at the residence we usually get two answers: the wireless internet (included in the rent) and the beautiful view of the city of Zwolle. Other favourites are the private bathroom, and living together with people from different cultures. Most students also see a dramatic improvement in their English proficiency.
