Student and Educational Services
For guidance during your studies, you may also use the Student and Educational Services of the Windesheim University of Applied Sciences (located just 5 minutes by bike from the centre). This team consists of deans, student psychologists, confidants and pastoral carers. Appointments can be made through the programme officer.
Student Counsellors
The student deans of Windesheim University of Applied Sciences act as advisors and student representatives in the event of individual problems. They may be consulted regarding queries or problems with:
- Laws and regulations (registration, enrolment, deregistering, finance, scholarships, applications to the examination committee for special circumstances)
- Study and career choice (transfer to a different course, advice about further training or jobs, condensed/accelerated studies, foreign studies or internships)
- Factors interfering with or delaying your studies (personal problems, health issues, functional limitations, foreign preliminary training/mother tongue/ethnicity, professional sports)
- Financial and material problems (financing, debts, accommodation)
- Conflicts, complaints, objections or appeals (undesirable conduct by fellow students or staff, disagreement over decisions by Windesheim staff or bodies)
Study Career Centre
For questions about your choice of study or your career, approach the Study Career Centre. Advisors will provide help and guidance if you are uncertain about your decisions, or are unsure whether you are able to complete your study, or if you are considering additional study.
The Centre also arranges group training and supplies studies and resources to assist you in mapping out a career.
Student psychologists
If you struggle with problems of a psychological nature during your studies, then you can consult a student psychologist. Problems might include tension, fear of failure, assertiveness issues, assimilation problems, anxiety attacks, eating disorders and personality disorders. The student psychologists provide both individual treatment and group therapies.
Office for Foreign Students
Foreign students studying at Windesheim can approach the Office for Foreign Students with any questions regarding educational content and procedures. This department also provides advice to Dutch students wishing to follow part of their studies or an internship abroad. Windesheim Honours College students who have questions regarding studying and living in the Netherlands can always get in touch with the programme officer.
Confidants
Students or staff encountering undesirable conduct (all forms of behaviour that might be considered irritating, offensive, inappropriate or threatening) can report this to a confidant from the Windesheim University of Applied Sciences. The confidant investigates ways of talking to all parties concerned, acting as a mediator where necessary.
Confidants are bound to treat any information about the individual situations of students or staff confidential.
Pastoral carers
The pastoral team is a joint initiative of Windesheim and a number of churches represented in Zwolle (including Protestant and Roman Catholic denominations). If you feel the need to discuss the purpose and meaning of life, your own identity, religion, culture or philosophies of life, then you can make an appointment with the chaplain at any given time.
